The Big Idea
Many important practical and mathematical applications involve comparing quantities of one kind or another; it is important to know which method to use and how we should use them.Essential Question: What methods are there for comparing things?
Notes:
Population density is a unit rate that compares population to area example:28 people/square mile.
Strategies to solve this problem:divide the population into boxes of 5 inch.then calculate the total area and then find the average for per box .
problem 5.1
Explain how many people attended the rally.explain the method you used to arrive at your answer.
ans.2340 people attended the rally.I found this out by doing an equivalent fraction. So i did 25 over 30 =19.25 over x.
follow up
In your group discuss ways your method might lead to a poor estimate.
ans. Take the boxes small so that I get a clear picture of the population and also the distribution of the dots is not consistant.
